Commission a painting

Some moments deserve more than a photograph, so bring me yours — one frame, many layers, painted one layer at a time until it lives on your wall forever.

Five short steps, about three minutes. Only the painting, your name and your email are required — and nothing is confirmed until we’ve talked it through.

How a commission works

  1. 01

    The brief

You tell me about the moment you want painted and share the photographs that hold it — then book a call so we can talk it through.

  2. 02

    A conversation

We meet on Google Meet or Zoom. I listen to the story behind the moment, and we talk through size, style, finish and timing.

  3. 03

    The sketch

After one or two calls, I create a few variations that bring together everything you’ve asked for, and present them with reference images.

  4. 04

    The quotation

Once you’ve chosen and finalised the sketch, I share a quotation. A 40% advance begins the painting; the rest follows in two instalments of 30%.

  5. 05

    The painting

The work is built up by hand, one layer at a time. I share photos and videos as it takes shape, on whichever channel you prefer.

  6. 06

    Delivery

Finished, varnished and framed if you chose a frame — then carefully packed and sent to you.

Which style should it be painted in?

Choose the style you’d love to see your image rendered in. It’s only a starting point.

Questions

How do we meet?

Over a video call on Google Meet or Zoom — whichever you prefer. Book a time that suits you and you’ll receive a calendar invitation with the link.

How does payment work?

Nothing is paid until you’ve approved a sketch. I then share a quotation: a 40% advance confirms the commission and lets the painting begin, and the remaining 60% is paid in two further instalments of 30% each. The quotation sets out exactly when each one falls.

How long does a commission take?

It depends on the size and the detail in the piece. I’ll give you an honest timeline when we talk through your brief, before anything is confirmed.

Will I see the painting before it’s finished?

Yes. You choose and approve a sketch before painting begins, and I share photos and videos as the layers build up, on the channel you prefer.

What if my photos aren’t very good?

That’s completely fine. Phone photos, old prints, even several imperfect pictures of the same moment all help.

Can it be a gift?

Of course. Tell me the occasion and the date in your brief, and whether it should be delivered straight to the person receiving it.

Is sending a brief a commitment?

No. A brief simply starts the conversation. Nothing is confirmed until we’ve agreed the details together.
